# Swap tokens

> Quote, review, submit, and settle a token swap in Shield Swap.

Use **Swap** for a simple token exchange. Use **Trade** when you also need the price chart and recent market trades. Open the applicable pool page to review pool depth.

You can review public market data without a wallet. Connect Shield Wallet before you submit a swap.

## Submit a swap

1. Select the input and output assets.
2. Enter the input amount.
3. Review the expected output, rate, swap fee, price impact, and minimum received.
4. Open **Slippage** if you want to change the maximum slippage.
5. Select the review action.
6. Review the current quote and confirm the wallet request.

Shield Swap uses the confidential input balance from Shield Wallet. The app does not spend a public token balance for this flow.

The app selects a direct or multi-hop route from available pools. The route and transaction amounts remain public, but the intended flow does not publish your wallet address in ordinary swap state.

## Quote changes

The review quote has a short validity period. The app asks for another review when pool state changes before wallet confirmation.

Do not confirm values from an earlier quote. Review the new output, price impact, minimum received, and route.

## Swap settlement

A completed trade uses a swap action and a claim action. The swap updates the pool and creates a pending output. The claim delivers the output and any refund to Shield Wallet.

If the swap succeeds but the claim does not finish, do not submit the swap again. Select your wallet address at the top right, then select **Positions** from the wallet menu. Use **Finish Your Swaps**.
