Shield Swap runs on the Aleo network. You can review markets, pools, prices, liquidity, and registered assets without a wallet connection. You need Shield Wallet for any action that uses your confidential balances. You do not need ALEO tokens for any trading activity in Shield Swap. Shield Swap handles those transaction fees.

Install Shield Wallet

Install and set up the Shield Wallet extension before you bridge funds to Aleo. Use Chrome or a Chromium-based desktop browser, such as Brave.
  1. Open the Shield extension in the Chrome Web Store. Check that the publisher is Provable Inc.
  2. Install the extension through the store and complete the browser prompts. Open Shield from your browser’s extensions menu.
  3. Follow the wallet setup prompts to create a wallet or import an existing wallet.
  4. For a new wallet, store the recovery phrase in a secure offline location. Complete the backup confirmation, name the account, and set a password to unlock the wallet.
Keep your recovery phrase private. Enter it only in the wallet’s recovery or import flow, never in Shield Swap. See the official Shield extension setup guide for more detail.

Connect to Shield Swap

  1. Open Shield Wallet and select the account you want to use. Confirm the network under Settings, Preferences, then Network. Use the same network as Shield Swap.
  2. Open Shield Swap in the same browser. Select Connect Wallet, then select Shield Wallet if a wallet list appears.
  3. Review and approve the connection request in Shield Wallet. Confirm that Shield Swap shows your selected wallet address at the top right before you open Fund Wallet.
If Shield Swap still asks you to install the extension, unlock Shield Wallet and reload the Shield Swap page. Select Connect Wallet again.

Wallet requirements

Shield Wallet holds your token records and position ownership records. A public balance does not replace the confidential balance that an app action requires. The wallet must grant access to the current Shield Swap programs. Reconnect the wallet if the app asks for an updated program permission.
Confirm the selected network before you move assets or approve a transaction. Mainnet and testnet records are not interchangeable.
Continue with Fund your wallet, Swap tokens, or Manage positions.
